Symi’s history in a moment.
The Dodecanese complex has been inhabited since 2000 BC with Minoans being one of the first civilizations that ruled the Aegean.
Since their fall Dorians, Persians, Turks and Italians changed hands as the centuries passed. In 7th of March 1948, Symi along with the rest of the Dodecanese joined the Greek Nation.
Since then, it slowly transformed from a traditional fisherman and sponge-gathering economy to a must-visit destination for those seeking the authentic aura of a small Greek island.
