The sandy beaches of Symi always fascinate their visitors with their natural beauty. The island has few of the most stunning gulfs and coasts that enchant any visitor upon viewing them. The raw mountainous sides alongside the crystal-clear waters and the elements of greenery in these coasts will help you unwind and enjoy your summer moments in Symi. Some of these beaches are impossible to get to by car or on foot, so the only way to reach them is through the sea. While others you may visit by car, it is certainly easier and much more exciting to travel to them by boat and cherish the Aegean Sea and Symi from afar. Small boats will guide you to these magical spots at the following hours:

You can get to Nimborio, a developing resort and outlying coast that doesn’t attract many visitors. The scenery will leave in awe and you will truly bask in the clear cool waters for refreshing dips. You can get there by car (6-10 minutes), on foot (30 minutes), or a taxi boat that leaves at 10:00 and 11:00 in the morning from the harbor of Symi and returns 16:00 and 17:00 in the afternoon respectively.

Agia Marina is further away from the town and is actually a small island, on top of which you will find a little chapel by the same name. Its location is ideal for swimming and snorkeling and you will be enchanted by the stunning landscape! This beach can be accessed by car (12-15 minutes), on foot (50 minutes), or you can pick a taxi boat that leaves either 10, 10:30 and 11:00 from Symi’s port and can bring you to this heavenly place in 15 minutes! The return is usually around 16:00 and 16:30 in the afternoon.

Nanou beach is truly a wonder! You’ll get to witness a remarkable efflorescent area full of cypresses, pebbles and bright-blue waters! There you can rent an umbrella with sunbeds and be protected from the hot sun and you can also eat at the tavern or sip a cold drink. This place is only accessible by a taxi boat that departs from Symi’s harbor at 10:00, 10:30 and 11:00 (takes 30 minutes to reach the coast) and picks you up late in the afternoon at 17:00 or 18:30, so you have plenty of time to enjoy this trip.

Agios Nikolaos beach will offer you some natural shade thanks to the tall green tresses that are growing there and a cozy coast full of golden sand to lie down. There are also available sunbeds and umbrellas and other facilities such as a tavern and a beach-bar. You can get to this beach from Pedi Bay (3-minute drive) or 20 minutes on foot or you may board on a taxi boat at 10:00 or 11:00 o’clock and you can get there in 20 minutes as well. The return is scheduled around 16:25.

Marathountas is an organized beach full of pebbles and fantastic scenery! Throughout this area you may find lots of pine trees and glittering blue waters to dive in. Since it’s a little away from the town of Symi, it is mostly tranquil and secluded and you have the chance to spend some quiet moments and completely relax. You can access it by car (35 minutes) or hop on a taxi boat at 11:00 and get there in 35 minutes too. The return is scheduled at 16:00 o’clock.

Maroni is a magnificent bay, northwest of Gialos. It perfectly combines the dozens of pine trees that are sliding from the mountain towards the sea with the rocky scenery and the translucent Aegean Sea. It is full of pebbles and presents quaint and striking imagery to the visitors. You can get to it only by a taxi boat that departs at 10:30 from the port of Symi.

The infinite blue horizon will utterly stun you! Swim in those beautiful sea and cherish every single moment! This area is accessible by car (20 minutes) or a boat taxi that departs at 10:30 from the harbor and comes to pick you up around 16:30.
